Phelicia completed her undergraduate studies in Psychology at Southern Illinois University and then her master’s degree at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Phelicia also spent time as an intern at the STRIDES shelter in Champaign.
Phelicia is very passionate about mental health. She is incredibly passionate about assisting in the
de-stigmatization of mental health in our minority communities. This will help encourage patients to seek treatment.
Phelicia has been in the mental health field for 11 years but is a new therapy provider. She believes there needs to be a holistic approach to healthcare, treating the mind, body, and soul.
Phelicia has two children and a one-year-old pit bull puppy. She enjoys Marvel movies, reading, watching crime and medical TV, spending time with her children, and working in some self-care time when possible.
She is very passionate about activities and programming that encourage positive influences on the youth, i.e., Boy Scouts, youth sports (First String), etc.

Sarah Lawson
MSW, LSW
Behavioral Health Provider
Sarah Lawson graduated with honors from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville with a Bachelor of Science in Anthropology and a minor in Sociology. She earned her Master of Social Work and is currently working toward her Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) credential. Her training includes the 40-hour Illinois certification to be a domestic violence advocate, trauma and PTSD education from the National Childhood Trauma Stress Network, and annual IM+CANS training through the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services.
Sarah has a strong clinical interest in childhood trauma, particularly how early experiences such as lack of nurturing interactions can impact brain development and lead to developmental, social, and intellectual delays. She is also drawn to working with women and children who have experienced trauma, survivors of sex trafficking, and applying feminist therapy techniques. Inspired by research like The Body Keeps the Score by Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, Sarah brings a trauma-informed perspective to her work.
She is especially passionate about working with middle and high school students. Sarah believes this age group often lacks consistent support and needs extra attention during such a critical and vulnerable time in their development. Her goal is to help people feel empowered to take control of their lives, and she values collaborating with clients as active participants in their own healing journeys.
Sarah has been practicing as a licensed provider for three years. She is excited to continue growing in her career and hopes to eventually step into leadership roles that help shape services for both clients and communities.
Outside of work, Sarah enjoys gardening, rescuing animals, spending time in nature, and hopes to take a Viking cruise through Europe one day. She has a 23-year-old son named Sam who is graduating from Millikin University with a business degree focusing on Ag. She also shares her home with two cats, Mia and Astrid, and a Yorkie named Teddy.

Caren Cohen-Heath
LPC
Behavioral Health Provider

Counsel Member and trained in Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT), Anger Management, Wellness Recovery Action Planning (WRAP) and interventions for both substance use disorders and mental health needs.
Caren’s clinical passion lies in empowering women and helping people heal from trauma. Drawing from her own journey as a single parent navigating work, education, and
family, she connects deeply with those overcoming adversity. She believes that a person’s past or diagnosis doesn’t define their future and that people can still realize their dreams with the right support. Patients appreciate her compassionate, hopeful approach and her ability to meet them where they are.
Caren enjoys spending time with her family outside of her professional life, including her three children and seven grandchildren. She’s a fan of superhero and action movies,
